I purchased one, but I haven't really had a chance to use it because of the weather. Read all the threads in this forum and others and I think you will be able to figure out which to purchase.

Hi Rob, I'm having great fun with the ACE150 and it's doing a good job in the tab and bottletop infested sites I'm hunting and will be alot better when I get the smaller 4.5'' coil......but the ACE'S can give confused and non repeatable signals over the deeper targets that a ground balancing and threshold based detector would hit on really well. Do you do most of your hunting in non-trashy wooded areas Rob, they are the next step up in price but something like an Eldorado...Cibola...Vaquero or a Minelab Musketeer might be a better choice for those deeper coins.
I guess the 250 and the Silver would be on par depth wise but the Silver is more the switch on and go machine with a good selection of coils.
I'm going to take the little ACE out for a few hours tonight and see if the moonlight can throw something up, mega trashy site so I expect at least some goodies. Best of luck.

I have had mine since just before Christmas. I love it. I haven't found a lot but I am learning the machine. found a few qtrs and dimes pennies but nothing older than 1959. Found plenty of pull tabs and scrap aluminum which is expected. I have also found some old square nails and farm implements. I just purchased a 4" and 12" coil to finish out my outfit but haven't used them yet too cold or either raining. My favorite type hunting is around old foundations and homesteads. I have been to the schools and parks but it is just not as exciting.

Default Ace 250

Received mine for Christmas. Weather has not been very nice in Montana but I have tried to get out as much as possible.
This is the first metal detector I have ever had so I am new to the hobby. Here is what I can tell you so far.
The Ace seems to find a lot of stuff. I have found a lot of coins, it is great at that and very accurate. I have found keys, a necklace, wire, nails, a ring, and old machinest file and a lot of tin cans, pop tops etc.
What I do know is that if it hits on something and you dig there will be something there. I am getting pretty good at guessing what it is before I dig but am still digging a lot of trash getting to know the Ace and not wanting to miss something. The pinpoint thing is working pretty well. If I get a good strong target and work at it from all sides to pinpoint I can hit right on the object most of the time now. For instance the other night I got a strong quarter signal at 6". Took some time to pinpoint and dug about a 2" round hole and hit the quarter right on at just about 6".
Again not having anything to compare to I can only say that it is an easy machine to learn all the functions, finds a lot of stuff and is a blast to use.
Can't wait for the weather to warm up

.

I have an Ace250. Works pretty good. I find a lot of coins with it. Only wish it had a volume control. I'll be walking around with my head phones in complete silence then all of a sudden, "BONG". About scares the pants off me. heh.
