Default Looking for an answer...

I have decide that I am going out to the local reservoir to do some md'ing. The reason being, is the lake is nearly dried up, due to the severe drought we are having. I know there is an old road bed that crosses it, the pilings from the old bridge can now be seen.

My question is: Has anyone here searched a lake bed of this sort before? Is it worth my time to go out there and do some md'ing? Given the history of the area, I could see where it might pay off. Here is a link to a story in a local paper this week showing the condition of the reservoir..keep in mind this is a 300,000,000 million gallon lake which is now down to less than 20% of capacity. It serves the suburban counties of Fairfax and Loudoun, Va. The link will give you pictures, to show you the are I want to search.

I have not detected an area like that but if I had the chance I would, especially around the bridge area. Don't know when you'll get another chance to hit a place like that. Lots of history out that way and you never know what may have been lost somewhere else and washed thru there. at least thats how I would look at it.

Good Luck & HH.

I would jump on that! It sounds like a great place to hunt. If possible you may want to check where boats go in and out. Docks, piers, etc. Good chance for rings, Beale.

Be sure to find the swimming area and I'm sure it will pay off.

It looks like you have your work cut out for you. I would say go for it as much as you can while it's dry. Good Luck!

Looks like an opportunity that may not come along again for quite some time (given that it's been 5 or 6 years since the last time the reservoir was extremely low)...good luck!

Last week while out hunting I talked to an older gentalman who told me about a dry lake at the end of his street. I have not had a chance to hunt it, but it's on my list. Should be interesting. I would check your place out if you can. Might be good. HH. Buster

Thanks to everyone for the replies. After sleeping on it last night and then reading the suggestions from everyone, I decided to go out and hit it up and will let you all know what I come up with. Can't wait to hit it!
