Default Question for DFX users

I have been using my DFX now for over a year and wondered if any other users here use "Mixed mode". I'm going to begin experimenting with it. The benefits from this feature seem great, however, I think it would be a nightmare in any trashy areas. Does any DFX users use this method? If so which mode of this feature do you use and how has your luck been? Any advice or suggestions?

Thanks

I'm sure some DFX users will chime in. Had one but don't remember as it was a little to much for me starting out but they are Great detectors. So good that I believe with the right program you could make it fly. You can always check out the DFX Only site. All the info on the DFX you could hope to come across.

Good Luck & HH.

Mark, do you have Jeff Foster's book on the DFX? Excellent reading for anyone with a detector. I use mixed mode when not in trashy areas and it works for me. I expecially like Jeff's reverse disc program with a few tweaks. Mixed mode requires a little more time since you are looking for deep targets and watching the screen more. Its a different machine when in mixed mode, but once you are comfortable with the DFX its great to play with. I have found some good relics with the program. Remember, the screen is still using motion mode so those non-motion mode targets you are looking for are deeper and may or may not show on the screen.

Thanks for the replies. I do have the Digging Deeper book and I read the DFXonly site. The mixed mode is new to me and I wanted to hear any opinions that someone might have. For now I switch it on and off while I'm detecting just to get to it. I have found small targets deep, deeper than the discrimator can decipher. Unfortunately, they've been small rusty nails. . I see that anything too deep for the discriminator to notice has to be dug to determine whether or not it's trash. Lots of digging to be done.
