The MXT does have VDI numbers and is a very sensitive detector. For coin hunting you may have to turn it down a bit. The DD coin is a great coin, not as sensitive to EMI, not as deep as the standard coil, but because it covers the same amount of soil differently is great in bad minerals. The detector doesnt have as much to sort thru with each swing. The only time i prefer the standard coil is on the beach. You can tell after a short time where the pull tabs and foil are coming in in a given area and if it like the DFX rings do sound different. If you are looking for small chains check those 0 - 7 VDI's initially you need to check most of your targets until you learn those VDI's. Great machine... HH.

I dig pretty much everything unless Im certian its a junk target and I don't plan on searching the area more than once .
each time you detect the same area more and more trash gets taken out of the ground if you dig all signals,, making the last times more productive for the deeper targets. In this area (Desert) we get winds most of the summer targets that may have been at 5 inches in the spring are at 8 to ten by mid summer ,, but on the other hand targets that were deeper than 10 might only be 5 inches in the same time frame . But on average I find most of the wheaties and silver at about 6 inches ,,although I have found silver quarters at about 2 inches in areas that are either graveled or very protected . Metalman
