Any one else own one of these. I was on Cape Cod this week, a great lady who is JEnterprises in Yarmouth told me I should have gotton the Tesoro equal to the Vaquero but pre balanced. My Vaquero needs to be balanced. Well any way I am learning what a beginner I am. Hope to join a group soon For help[ and comradery!

Hi chinchilla,
Don't own a Vaquero or any Tesoro at this time and just responding to the response the lady gave that you should have gotten the Cibola, because it's pre-balanced. If you know why your ground balancing and understand the proper proceedure and what to listen for in order to get the optimum balance your better off in my humble opinion having that option. If however you just can't figure it out or can't hear the changes and get it wrong you would be better off with the factory set GB as it's set for the average soil conditions around the country.Perhaps with your being relatively new she may have felt you would have less problems with ground cancellation with the Cibola.Just learn how to GB a detector properly and you will have more flexibilty at certain sites.Again just my opinion.

Good Luck
Bill

Your always better of with a machine you can ground balance your self or a machine that has auto tracking over a fixed balance detector. I agree with Bill the other poster, learn the proper way to balance and why your doing it and this will make all the diffrence in depth and performance over a fixed balance detector. She may have been a nice lady but she did not understand detectors comepletely to give you that advise.

Good Luck,

B-G

Default Ground Balancing the Vaquero

You can go to the Tesoro Website and click on Detectors. Than click on Vaquero or try this url.

http://www.tesoro.com/images/Vaquero%20Web%20Manual.pdf
It will give you both the air test and in the field ground balancing methods.
No surprizes, misinformation or guesses.
