I got the permission to hunt this farm.... I havent seen it yet but ill get some pics Saturday when i go Im bouncing off the walls now waiting for the Quattro to get here....Hope it handles the red dirt I deal with here...Wish some of you guys lived close enough to come and help me out....Guess Ill have to deal with it by myself for now This will be my 1st really promising site Ive had...The origional owners had it for over 100 years and MANY children were raised there. A log cabin was just moved off the property and it has been bulldozed recently... I guess im rambling now so ill quit...lol |

I sorta disagree with Nighthunter. sorry Nighthunter. I would definetly start at the house site...most obvious. but I would also recomend some research on the property. Look for old graveyards, road beds, out buildings, etc. Get a good topo map or go to local court house/ historical society for old maps. There is a lot of public info on anyones property!! I would not hunt in the grave yard but all around it. I have hunted within 15 yards of old graveyards and pulled out period buttons and coins. Remember this...back in the day people would go picnic around a graveyard, or just visit and lose things while there. Dump sites were often out away from the house and so were privies (toilets). Privies can yield many, many artifacts as well; bottles, buttons and coins (USE gloves if ya' find it though). I don't know where you are but if it's east coast then CW items could be anywhere due to the travel of cavalry. Just some food for thought. Never rule out any spot...especially with that much land. Happy hunting to ya'. Hope to see some of your finds.

Hey Rotty, Sounds like Heaven to me as I dream of such places!
Good Luck & HH, Roger BTW, I've had my Quattro for about 7 weeks. I've rehunted my front yard with it and I've found 29 coins (1946 Dime, 1946 Nickel, 8 wheats & the rest clad), a silver locket and a braclett style "R" plus many unwanted items as well (trying to learn this machine) that was previously missed with my other machines. ALWAYS Noise Cancel after finding a clean spot to do such. If using the 10.5" Double D, swing it slow but remember that you will be picking up targets in the 10.5" long x 2" wide area instead of the old concentric funnel shaped area. I used the 5" coil and picked out a few coins I missed with the Double D. Keep Us Posted! I Can't Wait To See Your Finds! RAW |
