Default Small Coil Sweep Speed ?

I own a Spectrum XLT and purchased a 3X6 Blue Max DD coil and was wondering about the sweep speed vs. the stock 9" coil ? Do I sweep at the same speed as the 9" or can I sweep considerably slower ? I understand I loose a little depth with a smaller coil BUT , will I pass over targets at a fast sweep using the 3X6 coil ? Yours thoughts would be appreciated !!! HAPPY HUNTING !! KENNETH

Hi Kenneth

It seems to me the 3x6" shooter loses depth capabilities at a quicker rate as you reduce swing speed vs the 950 on the XLT and found the best shooter performance using a slightly modified Relic program which is the only program i use as a base on the XLT. If you crank up the Pre Amp till the detector is unstable and back it down to regain stability and leave the AC Sens at default or less it will allow you to run the Shooter a bit slower and not lose depth so quickly, i run mine about 8 to 10 gain when possible in my bad ground and lower it if i get many overload responses and if trash is too bad. Just my opinion. HH Bill

Default Sweep Speed ?

Thanks for the info Bill !!! I have been working a small area in back of an old school built in 1910 and it is REAL TRASHY !! Cant use the 9" coil in the area so I opted for my 3X6" coil . I dug a 1940D dime at about 4" and a "wheatie" unknown date . at about 3" ! AND a whole lot of trash !! At a Fast sweep which is recomended for the Spectrum XLT I didnt know wheather to stay with the 9" coil and try for the deepies and try to pick out the resonable signals OR sweep slower and miis alot of goodies !!!! I think I am in the right area though after digging the 1940D and the wheatie !!! THANKS AGAIN Bill!!!! KENNETH HUDDLESTON
