Question Italian Gold

I found a braclet marked 10K-Italy with clasp marked 412, and a ring marked M417 both of which are distively gold. How does this numbering translate to the 10K/12K/14K/18K values I typically see on most items I have found.
I'm always out for gold, I just a little ignert.
Can somebody enlighten me.

Out4gold.

Default Re: Gold Quality

Maybe this will help.

These are the European markings for the purity of gold.
24K = 999
22K = 916
20K = 833
19K = 792
18K = 750
15K = 625 (in antiques)
14K = 585
12K = 500
10K = 417
-9K = 375

The higher the carat quality the greater the proportion of gold it will contain. Countries across the world allow different minimum carat standards. For example, in France and Italy the lowest permitted standard for gold is 18 carat, in Germany it is 8 carat and in the USA it is 10 carat gold. In Britain, however, the minimum standard has been 9 carat since the First World War when gold was in short supply.
