Whites MXT & Minelab x-terra 70???

Total newbie to detecting. Opportunity to search a CO ghost town being resurrected for museum. Old mining and rail center. Search will be for artifacts, town dump, rail shop, etc. Dearler has recommended these two models because of the soil at 9400ft. But, a little excessive for my budget, and posssible one time use. Good advise or sales pitch? Alternates? Thank You.

Go with the Xterra 50 instead. Less money and will perform as good as the 70 in your case. The desireable part about the 70 is the fact that it will have 3 or more coils to use on it.
Also , don't worry about a one time use as you won't be able to hunt this area completely in one shot. Another thing ; Either you're gonna get bitten by the treasure bug or not but if you don't then there is still a lot of value in the detector and you won't lose much when you go to sell it.
