Default Advice on Coin hunting detector

Hello there, I have enjoyed reading the Forum here and looks like there are quite a few of you that have been diggin coins for some time now, I am used to Nugget hunting and am getting into the idea of coin hunting, but I am needing feedback on the better of the coin machines to get, I am used to Minelab SD-GP, PI detectors and have found lots of gold nuggets, so learning a new machine with bells and whistles is not a concern, I am just needing help being pointed in the right direction.

Thanks in advance.

Default Coin Hunting ?

Hi Travis !! Being that I live in Oklahoma , there just aint too many gold nuggets to be found here !! I would love to go medal detecting for nuggets !! Nugget hunting is like coin hunting in a way. I have owned a Whites Spectrum XLT for about 5 years now and love the technical aspect of this machine !! I have purchased numberous books written by detectorist that is a tutorial of the different adjustments that sniff out those DEEP OLD COINS using the Spectrum XLT!! Got ALOT of OLD Coins and Relics using Custom Programs !! I find the Spectrum XLT alot of fun !!! So I would suggest the Whites Spectrum XLT !!!EXCELLENT COIN MACHINE !!! KENNETH

Hi and welcome to the forum. I would suggest that you first decide what you want to spend. A PI would not be a good choice for land hunting coins as they find very small iron objects as you know. If you'd like , give me a call and we can discuss all the possibilities. I;ve been a coinshooter for over 30 years and a dealer for over 29.

Default coin hunting detector

Yes, you first need to decide how much you would like to spend, You can go from $180.00 up to $1400.00 in the Garrett and Tesoro lines. Let me know if I can answer any specific questions for you.

Thanks guys and gal for your responces, I have spent thousands on the PI's that I have, so there is really no set amount as to what coin machine I would want to invest in, one that will give me a good return on the money spent. that is the reasoning for my inquire to the experts.

The real reason for me getting into the coin shooting is that I am looking to move from AZ out to Western New York within in the year so I am wanting to get a head start on learning a new machine, the town we are moving to was established in the1890's and the house we are buying is over 100 years old.

Hi Travis,
Welcome to TQ forum.
I use the Minelab Explorer II and if you want a deep seeking coin/relic machine its the one I prefer.
Check out the Treasure Quest dealers here: www.treasurequestxlt.com & Rocker at the Garrett forum. They will treat you right

Also look over my field test at the Minelab forum.

Greg

Hey there John , Nice to hear from you , I have been wanting to make this move for some time now. We have family in NY and want to be close, ya know for the kids that is, not only that the house we are buying is very nice 100yrs+ (nery nice colonial) , once we get a buyer for our home here in AZ the move is going to happen, with the Equity we have in our house we will be able to own the house back east outright. We also plan on moving the business with us. Looking forward to it. Cant wait

As far as the minelab X50 That is one that I am leaning towards, I will probably buy two detectors and learn them both,

I will be selling a couple of my PI detectors before I leave as well.

Alright sounds good Travis and I am very happy for you ! It will be nice to own your home for sure. I'm real glad you are going to keep churning out the Trinity Bowls, it is a great pan ! Yes the X50 is a really cool detector and is really light and comfortable to use. Yeah I guess you won't be needing a PI out in that area unless you will go to the beach. I'm still waiting to get the X-TERRA 70's in stock, they were backordered. I been thinking about a PI myself because I do plan to return to Arizona someday to do some nuggethunting Travis. I just wish I could come out before you move and meet ya. Well stay in touch and I will be sure to give ya a call when I need some more Trinity Bowls. God Bless Travis and much success to you and the family my friend.
