I just got my first underwater (Sea Hunter Mark II) detector. I was told that it is illegal to use a detector in the water in Hanauma Bay (Hawaii). I was pulled from the water by an attendant of the county run park and was told that I could use it on land but not in the water. I politely asked to see the regulation but he couldn't find it. He said it was just one of the rules along with no dogs, no frizbees and no footballs allowed. I looked on line for these rules with no results. I was hoping someone with research experience could guide me to the list of ordinances governing metal detector use for my state (Hawaii). I would appreciate any help I could get. Thanks, Charlie

Charlie, here is a link to check out, http://www.hawaii.gov/dlnr/dsp/rules.html
Look at the sixth heading. Hope this helps a little. I am sure there is more in depth info out there but this was a quick search. Travis
