Hi, well I'm new to this forum and MDing, I just got a Bounty Hunter 505 pioneer and so far I like it. Anyway, for the time being I'm coin shooting and would like some opinions on this unit and how well it performs on coin shooting. Also, what is the best modes for this unit for coin shooting. I guess I'm asking for some advise from you old pros - like I said I'm pretty green and need help. Thanks alot and I'm looking forward to hearing from you all. God Bless!!!!! Greg |

I havn't used that exact model but I have used 2 other bounty hunters and they both worked great for coins. It was very accurate on quarters and I had good luck on dimes and wheat pennies. The zinc pennies could hit as low as bottle caps or as high as dimes. Nickels well you will dig a lot of pull tabs going for nickels. Most of the nickels I dug with a BH would bounce from nickel to pulltab and it was hard to tell the diff. Every ring I ever dug was a pull tab target ID. IF you read a 1 dollar target ID on the BH I used it was a big piece of iron 95% of the time. I did get one franklin .50 on a BH that was reading as a 1 dollar coin on a damp day.
