NORRIS, First of all there are no dumb questions....Only those that need answers...Clad means coins that contain copper and other materials such as your clad quarters. Look at the side of quarter made after 1965 and you will find that they have a copper ring around them....This is clad coinage.
The true definition is as follows: Composite coinage metal strip composed of a core, usually of a base metal such as copper, and surface layers of more valuable metal like copper-nickel. The U.S.dimes, quarter dollars, and half dollars struck since 1965 are a "CLAD COINAGE"...PAPPY
