coin cleaning

question about cleaning coins. if anyone is familure with reloading ammo, I have a brass cleaning tumbler, you put your dirty brass in it with the media (i have 2, one is ground up walnut shells, the other is ground up corn cobs) there is also a brass polishing compound (liquid) it vibrates & tumbles the brass, and does a great job cleaning the brass cases. would this be good to clean dirty coins that i might find, or would it damage them?

Man, I don't know, but take a few that aren't worth a whole lot and try them. Ya never know until you try. If it cleans casings, I would say it would work

you'll need to use different media than what you're using for brass. I have a rock tumbler and I use various small rocks with a powder solution mixed with water. Look up 'Coin Cleaning' on your search engine.
