Chemical reaction? zinc pennies....
So I generally find more money when I'm hitting the junkyards than I do with my MD, but I've noticed a similarity...
some recent penny finds (always check next the the seats :) ) have been in pretty bad shape. one penny actually busted into a few pieces. it had been sitting under a floor mat for some time, and was sort of stuck to the carpet.... this evening, I found a 1988D ppenny in my front yard, and it was deteriorated on one edge (2mm missing), and really physically felt way light... I have another penny from long ago before I got my MD, and it is a newer one as well, and I can twist the penny enough to make it creak. it is also discollored (gray) just like the one from this evening. I'm guessing it's got something to do with the Zinc and moisture, but thought I'd check here...
