Default Whites DFX

I just bought a Whites DFX. This is my first detector. I am try to get the hang of it . It seems to be great. My problem is when a target show a Silver dollar I find a coke can. I have found one dime. Can any one give me some feedback on the DFX . I also have a 14 inch exellerator which I have not tried, but the bullseye pin pointer works great. I think I just need alot more practice. I was told this was one of the best machines. I just need to know how to determine a good target. Or is it best to dig everything. I would appreciate all suggetions!!!!! THANKYOU IN ADVANCE.
Does anyone have a DFX that they like or dislike???

dprice, you will probably have to dig everything until you figure out what your DFX is telling you. The signagraph is going to tell you more than the pictures. Before you dig something see what the signagraph is telling you, after a while you will start to get the hang of it, maybe. I have had a DFX for about a yr and it still drives me nuts sometimes.
Read the manual over and over, and the book by Jeff Foster " Digging Deeper with the DFX" is a great resource, and read it over and over.
This site may help also

Good Luck and HH

Default DFX is one of the best

You have one of the best detectors on the market. I used a xlt for a long time loved it very close to the dfx and thru a buddy on this site I was able to use a the dfx and really liked it. You bought a great detector to grow with. Sure practise and dig everything at first but read every thing you can find online about the detector. the dfxonly.com site is a great site. also some of the books whites has out are great. Anothe rthing I would do is try and find a local hunter that uses whites detectors or the dealer you purchased it from to walk you thru some things. befor you know it you will be programing the thing to hunt the way you want to hunt. I personal love the relic program from the factory and dug most everything i came across. the signa graph is awsome tool along with the numbers I used them the most. hope i helps some if i can help any more please feel to contact me

later will

ThankYou for your Info. I have found more stuff every time I go. I Live 5 miles outside of Mongomery, Alabama in Wetumpka. I am 26 and collect coins. I have found tons of arrowheads, pottery and Indian beads. I would really like some civil war relics. Montgomery was the Confederate Capital before it moved to virginia. Selma, Mobile, Birmingham, and Huntsville were battle sites. Do you have any suggestions were I can go hunt for coins and relics?? I do not mind traveling. If you know anywhere close that would be great. But I can travel. Old Parks, old campsites, or any other suggestions..
