Default Advice on detector purchase

I have been away from the hobby for many years and would like to get back into it. I had a Fisher 1210-x probably 15 years ago and gave it away. After reading alot I am thinking of getting a Fisher 1225-x or Teroso siver u-max both are $ 239.00. Concidered an Ace 250 or Whites Prizm 11 but thought I might get better depth from the Tesoro or Fisher. I think I can use the manuel descrimination and sound to pretty mush accept or reject targets. ( I hope lol. )
I have used a Fisher before and the 1225 does have the pin-point feature but not sure what to choose . Any advice? Thanks,

Go with the SilveruMax. I feel it's better than the 1225. If you're interested let me know. The silver can be used quite well on many salt water beaches. For the price it's pretty good.

My wife uses the Silver uMAX in coin hunts and loves it. It's one of my best sellers in the lower price range.

Default Detector question

I went to the dealer before I had a chance to read all the responses to my post. He did have both detectors on hand. Srangely, he recomended the Fisher. He said it was a better machine. I kind of wish I had read the Tesoro recomendations before going. Maybe he just wanted to get rid of the Fisher or his opinion differs... I did get the life time qarentee though.
Oh Well! I will make the best out of the new Fisher. Looks like a helpfull and interesting site. I look forward to participating.
Thanks,

There is nothing wrong with the fisher at all....great little machine a tad deeper than the tesoro but not as sensitive to the small items.

They are well built and have the lifetime gaurantee as you say.

good luck

Hi Osage, Yes the Silver uMax is a fun and easy machine to use and for that matter the Cibola is a great machine too so you have a great many choices. If I can help you out just give me a ring. God Bless and happy hunting Osage.

Hi Osage,
Congraulations on the Fisher 1225 x, please don't feel you bought an inferior detector because i used a 1236x2 for a few years , loved it and regret trading it.Made my oldest find , a King George copper circa 1700's using the 1236, they love Silver and Copper
My suggestion would be to get the 5" coil for it and hunt the trashy areas.

If you have any questions, send an E Mail and will get back to you.
HH Bill

Default 1225 impressions

Still learning the new machine but I am pleased with it. This Fisher is a little noisy with clicks and pops. I am still working on my techniques using discrimination. It does seem to have decent depth and does let you know a good target with a dicernable tone. I,m still a little fuzzy about keeping Disc. low and listening for a deep coin with a just audible tone than determining by using disc. Disapearing tone past six can still be a good target at the max. depth ability.
Thanks,
