Default the speed

Does anyone know at what speed does the average metorite strike the earth. Not the speed it traveles comming in, but the speed just before impact.

Default Calculation flaw

Boobie, your calculation is flawed I am sorry to say. I did my own and here are my findings.
X + (Z over 123 - 3 to the 3rd power) x Y * r squared = Hauling @ss at impact.

Default SPEED reply:

Meteorites never strike the Earth.

Only METEORS strike the Earth!

After the Meteor has struck, it becomes a Meteorite.

Look at the famous Meteor Crater in Arizona. It's called the Meteor Crater because it was caused by a Meteor, not by a Meteorite. A Meteorite has no energy. It's just a chunk or Iron or Nickel that once had kinetic energy as a Meteor.

The only way a Meteorite can strike the Earth is if you drop one from an airplane to the Earth's surface.
