SPEED reply:
Meteorites never strike the Earth.
Only METEORS strike the Earth!
After the Meteor has struck, it becomes a Meteorite.
Look at the famous Meteor Crater in Arizona. It's called the Meteor Crater because it was caused by a Meteor, not by a Meteorite. A Meteorite has no energy. It's just a chunk or Iron or Nickel that once had kinetic energy as a Meteor.
The only way a Meteorite can strike the Earth is if you drop one from an airplane to the Earth's surface.
