I see that Mlamp and Cntrydncr are being put through the paces, sorry to hear this. I spent many years in Avionics and IF the equipment is constructed properly, it WILL take a beating and still work correctly. Unfortunatly not all electronics is built to Aviation standards, so there will be shipping failures. As for the speaker, I recommend always using head phones as they will let you hear the target better (especially weak signals).

You had lots of good input in this thread.
Hope you make it through all this in time to get some detecting in real soon.
