Smile i'm new here, just bought 2 whites MXTs

although i'm not completely new to metal detecting--when i was young we had a whites goldmaster and two coinmasters-it's been nearly 30 years since i've done any "serious" detecting. i just purchased two whites MXT's for my girlfriend and myself. we have gone out a couple of times and found about $10.00 in change ,a couple of junk rings and a cell phone but needless to say, we still have a lot to learn about when to dig and when to walk away. any tips and/or hints on how to use the MXTs would be welcomed.
we found a lot of nice jewelry and coins when i was using my old coinmaster back in the 70s but i believe we were the only ones that had metal detectors around here at that time.
happy hunting and a big HELLO to everyone .
