Default New to site.

67 years young and retired from GM ( oldsmobile ) liveing just south of Lansing, Michigan. Started detecting in 1969 , first detector was a Whites , Conquistador " found lots of treasure with the old thing". am now useing a bounty hunter quick draw II and am thinking of replaceing it with a Whites Classic 5 Id. I am thinking this is the best I can do in my price range. Most of my detecting is for relics at a old ghost town up near Lake city in Missaukee county [ really a old lumber camp pop.13000 in its hayday .had its own post office and three banks. nothing much left now but a few old foundations and a concrete watering troth. scattered out over three sections.
Do any of you folks have a Whites classic 5 Id or have any experince with them ? Is this a dependabile machine or would i be wasting my money buying one.

Welcome to TQ, Uncle Milo, the friendliest forum going. I'm not familiar with White's detectors, but there are folks here who are.

Best of luck at that old ghost town; I envy the opportunity you have. Are there many others who hunt it, or is it pretty much yours?

To the best of my knowledge i have had the site all to myself for the last 20 years. But to cover 3 sections I figure there is another 20 years of detecting yet to go.

Hmmm, do I see a summer RV trip to Michigan in my future?
