Default vinegar?

Does anyone use vinegar to clean coins?

Vinegar is a very strong acid and may turn your coins orange or pinkish color ,, for the coins going back into circualtion that is not really a problem, but for coins you will be keeping I would not recommend vinegar.

for copper and bronze coins I suggest a long soak in extra virgin olive oil,, it will not harm the coin ,, results vary ,but in most cases some improvement will be noticable after a few days to a few weeks,, the olive oil should be changed on a weekly basis for extended soaking.

once removed from the olive oil a rinse with hot water, and then a quick dip in acetone to remove the water.
