Default New to Prospecting

Hello:

I will be making a Metal Detector purchase this summer. My goal is to spend the winter in AZ prospecting for gold. There are a host of Mfg's out there. Which one do I buy? Do I buy New or used?

My criteria:

Water proof
Rechargeable
Dependable

I guess I should also say that I am not interested in "buying the farm" on my first venture. My desire is to prospect for gold in AZ during the winter when I am off work. I would of course like my venture to be "self-supporting". In other words, I am not interested in keeping what I find. I want to sell it as I find it.

Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

That's a great question and a very informative reply by chuck. This is some exelent "meat and potatos" information I find here at TQ. I just have _1_ question- Can I Go With?

Thumbs up Great advice

Chuck gave you great advice, Tesoro has been a top performer for several years and is also priced right and the warranty can't be beat. The only other machine in the price range that I would look at is the Whites Goldmaster which will track well and produce good results, but the warranty is NOT a lifetime one.
