Default Tumacacori Spanish Record Symbol

Attached is a drawing of a symbol from a old Spanish record. The symbol would be found under a black rock near one of the lost Tumacacori Mission mines and is a reference point. The Tumacacori Missions is in southern Arizona. I have a copy of the old Spanish record. I found it in a odd place. Any opinion of the meaning of the symbol?

It could be marking the spot.
With each set of letters referring to a particular location along the way to the spot.
Possibly a mine or cave.

You may need to look for marks in the area.
Maybe you can give more info of the immediate area and we can help you with this.

Also, many symbols are self explanatory while others were personal that only the person who made the symbol would know.
Therefore the meaning of the symbol died with the person who made it.

In this case, being the Spanish, you might find more answers in the record you are reading. Maybe referring to names in the area or particular landmarks surrounding the location of the spot marked on the map.

I am going to retire from the PD in three years. I will be moving to AZ and am now gathering research on areas to search at that time. This item is in reference to lost mines and treasure SW of Tuson, Az. I have a friend who is now working the area. He located some very interesting sites.

Congradulations.
Keep in touch with us and let us know what develops from that symbol.

Best of Luck,
Doug
