Default THE SPIDER ROCKS of TEXAS

This story could date back to the Spaniard exploration of the Southern United States. Between 1902 and 1910 three strange stones were found in three different Central Texas Counties. All three discoveries sparked extensive treasure hunts which were financed by a Doctor from Haskell,Tx. until his death.

All three stones bear some of the same hierglyphs and the most significant image is a spider web like carving on all three of the stones. The Counties are Stonewall, Fisher, and Callahan where they were discovered by farmers at the time. There are also different numbers and letters inscribed on these stones. I have personally met with and talked to a man from Callahan County that has been trying to decipher the secrets of the stone from his County for over 35 years. He is also a treasure hunter and has been looking for the possible treasure locations that the markings may indicate in the Central Texas area. I went to one location with him to try a electronic device I had built for receiving the sound of the energy signature of lightning strikes and other natural atmosphereic phenomenom. He said he is sure there is a cache of gold treasure hidden at this location. So far we have had no results from this experiment and have not pursued it any further.

This fellow I met said that he has found locations where treasure caches were, but either the Spanish came back to recover it or in more modern times someone beat him to it. He is convinced that there is still more locations that are undiscovered. The Fisher County stone is interesting to me since this County is on the North border of Nolan County where I live. There is a river called the Double Mtn. Fork of the Brazos North of Rotan,Tx.. This is very rugged country where I did land survey work for a well known lawyer at the time. Not far from here is the Double Mountain where there are several old Indian caves which contain some strange things that the landowner still keeps secret. But I could see where it would be easy to hide away a treasure in this rugged countryside.

No one has been able to decipher the inscriptions on the Spider Rocks and if they have they better keep it to themselves. I haven't seen the old man that I went to a certain location with for awhile now. Maybe he has figured it out now! But one thing is sure, there will always be others that will carry on the hunt and try to decipher the markings on these stones. I know one thing is for sure, there was a lot of Indian activity here and maybe some of them found Spanish treasure early on and relocated it. Treasure hunting is a big gamble but once in awhile ya get lucky, are you the lucky one? I know for sure though if I have a chance to look for treasure, I'm in!!!

You wonder if the markers mark the ends of of the web with the cache in the center!

Neat story John. I read somewhere a while ago that there's more treasure in the ground (including the ocean) than there is in circulation. I find it hard to believe but possible?

Hi everyone, I am glad you all liked it and Steve I wonder about that too. We will probably never know. I wouldn't doubt there is a few stashes out here but getting out in the field is the neat part of it all. Of course research is top priority. I went out to the old stagecoach stop this morning and found a few relics again. Those crazy broom weeds make it hard to swing a coil though! I climbed to the top of the hill too and all I found was an old .22 round that is still live. I didn't see any rattlesnakes this time either. I was using the Tesoro Cortes with no discrimination to get the iron relics. Ok guys I will come up with another story soon. God Bless everyone and happy hunting!
