Default LEGENDARY TREASURES of TEXAS

RATTLESNAKE CAVE,

INDEPENDANCE CREEK JOINS THE PECOS RIVER IN TERRELL COUNTY, AND IN THIS AREA IS AN INTERESTING STORY OF A LOST CACHE OF SPANIARD GOLD.. LONG BEFORE TEXAS FOUGHT FOR IT'S INDEPENDANCE A PARTY OF EARLY SPANIARD EXPLORER'S SOUGHT SHELTER FROM A BAND OF COMMANCHE'S. BEFORE FLEEING THE AREA THEY BURIED THE GOLD IN A CAVE INFESTED WITH RATTLESNAKES WITH PLANS TO RETURN FOR IT LATER ACCORDING TO LEGEND. THEY NEVER RETURNED FOR THE GOLD AND THE EXACT LOCATION OF THE CAVE WAS LOST. WHERE IS THE LOST CAVE OF GOLD? COULD THE CAVE BEEN BLASTED SHUT BY RANCHERS TO RID THEMSELVES OF RATTLESNAKES? WE WILL NEVER KNOW UNLESS A TREASURE HUNTER IS BRAVE ENOUGH TO LOOK FOR IT.

Hey John good story. I know I do not want to find any Rattlers so I will not hunt for it!

Thanks for the mystery, Beale.

Hi Buster, yep Rattlesnakes are everywhere here in West Texas, you might say they are the Guardians of the Texas landscape! A couple summers ago I was sitting out by my shack in the backyard and our little dog started going crazy and right behind me maybe a couple of feet from me a 3 and half foot Rattler was sneaking up on me! Thanks to Jack I avoided a serious problem! But I kill several here in the yard every year. The World's Largest Rattlesnake Roundup has been held every year for almost 50 years now in Sweetwater where I work fulltime and they have not even put a dent in the population! I have a set of snake tongs I use to pick them up with. I will say that if you ever get lost out here in the plains those Rattlers will make a tasty meal. Ok if y'all ever want to come to Texas and partake of a delicacy I will get ya a plate full of fried Rattler, mighty fine stuff!

I'm originally from N. E. of Dallas, (Greenville, Tex.) and was wondering if you have any prairie dog towns there, and is there good prairie dog hunting? But you can keep the rattlers.

I would have to think on the offer to come out that way. I do have some reletives somewhere in Texas and Louisiana. Would like to try snake just once. I did eat squid on a stick in Spain and also a porkchop out of a dirty ashtray one night. Those were fun times in the Military....Buster....

Hi Norris,
No there are no prarie dogs here so your out of luck but hunting Rattlers can be a challenge! Well come on down in March when they have the Roundup 2nd weekend of the month. Sounds like you will fit right in. Ok see y'all later and God Bless ya all.
