Default Legendary Treasures Of Texas

IT IS SAID THAT JIM BOWIE, RENOWNED KNIFEFIGHTER, ADVENTURER, AND BUSINESSMAN HAD EXTRACTED A LARGE AMOUNT OF ORE FROM THE SILVER MINES OF SAN SABA. BOWIE HAD HEARD OF THE SILVER MINES WHEN TRAVELLING THROUGH CENTRAL TEXAS. THE LIPAN APACHE'S OF CENTRAL AND WEST TEXAS MADE FREQUENT TRIPS TO SAN ANTONIO WITH LEATHER POUCHES BULGING WITH THE SILVER ORE THAT THEY MINED FROM SAN SABA AND USED IT TO TRADE FOR GOODS, RIFLES, AND AMMUNITION. BOWIE, HEARING OF THE SILVER THAT THE APACHE BROUGHT TO TRADE WITH THE WHITE MAN SOUGHT TO BEFRIEND THE CHIEF OF THE TRIBE NAMED XOLIC. BOWIE PURCHASED A FINE RIFLE AND TOOK IT TO XOLIC AS A GIFT. BOWIE WAS SOON TAKEN IN BY XOLIC AND THE TRIBE WHERE HE LEARNED THE WHERE ABOUTS OF THE SILVER MINES. ONCE BOWIE HAD FOUND THE LOCATION OF THE SAN SABA SILVER MINES HE ABANDONED XOLIC AND THE APACHES. BOWIE THEN WENT TO SAN ANTONIO AND ORGANIZED AN EXPEDITION TO BEGIN MINING THE SILVER FOR HIMSELF. ACCORDING TO LEGEND BOWIE ESTABLISHED A CAMP NEAR THE MINES AND WITH THE HELP OF ABOUT 20 MEN BEGAN EXCAVATING A LARGE AMOUNT OF THE SILVER ORE AND BEGAN MAKING LARGE DEPOSITS IN VARIOUS BANKS IN SAN ANTONIO. BOWIE TOLD SEVERAL PEOPLE THAT THESE MINES WERE WORKED BY THE SPANIARDS LONG AGO. AFTER ABOUT A MONTH OF SUCCESSFUL MINING CHIEF XOLIC ATTACKED THE MINING CAMP AND TAKING A TOLL ON THE MEN. BOWIE AND HIS MINERS HAD TO ABANDON THEIR EFFORTS AND LEAVE THE AREA. INDIAN ATTACKS BECAME QUITE REGULAR AND VIOLENT AND BOWIE OPTED NOT TO RETURN UNTIL LATER. BOWIE WAS MAKING PLANS FOR A SECOND EXPEDITION TO RETURN TO THE SAN SABA SILVER MINES WHEN HE WAS KILLED AT THE BATTLE OF THE ALAMO. DID BOWIE LEAVE ANY MAPS OR A DIARY AS TO WHERE THESE MINES ARE? CAN ANY OF THE TREASURE QUEST MEMBERS DO THE RESEARCH TO FIND THESE SILVER MINES? IF THERE IS,"I'M IN !" BUT REMEMBER I WANT MY CUT!!!

I just came back from there and found a ton of color in the pan in the llano river just north of kingsland, i will be heading back with the 2 box tm 808 and my trusty gti 2500 to find those lost mines everyone is talking about.

the good thing about the 808 is that it has a cave mode to find those old diggings that the spanish covered up.

John
