In my town there is an old train station that had old cracked cement streets running around it. Prior to the cement being put down the streets were dirt. They tore up the cement to repave and I got to spend a little time detecting. I found several wheaties, mercury dimes and on 1890's dime. I'm just sorry I didn't get out there sooner and spend more time. Anytime a street or sidewalk is torn up, it's a prime detecting spot.

Streets and sidewalks being tore up and replaced would be a very good place to hunt. Several years ago they tore up a small section of sidewalks down town. In the early years they had poured the concrete over the original board walk, and the original boards were still there. I did not get a chance to hunt them

Welcome to the site Rifleman! Congrats on your finds! I have had the chance to hunt 2 short sections of sidewalks, no roads. I think it is a great idea, Beale.

I searched and searched and searched in Menominee MI this past summer. Total find in over 5 blocks of torn up streets? One cent
![]() I did search along the torn up sidewalks and the parkways along closed buildings. I did manage one silver quarter, but for 5+ blocks and many hours of searching it was poor at best. At least I do better in the Chicago sidewalk tear-ups ![]()
