Default Drive-Ins

I was bored out of my mind here at work, so I thought I'd do some research on old drive-in theaters around my area... using Google and Google Earth, I have found the location of a couple of closed theaters... this is fascinating... if you don't already know about Google Earth, please check it out!

one of them is one I knew of from driving back to my hometown - I pass it every time I go... from Google, I was able to find a website that had the phone number to the business that operates at the location, and from the address, I used Google Earth to look at the site, and it looks huntable!
All I have to do now is get permission...

And there are a couple here close to where I work in San Antonio... I actually scouted one of them last night - hunted for maybe 30 mins... very, very trashy, lots of big iron junk, but I did find a Wheat, so maybe with some diligence I can tolerate the junk and see what I can find.. the ground is very dry and hard, though...

The other one I haven't been able to get to yet, but it's very large... the pics I've seen of it show what looks like some good areas to hunt, but a lot of it also looks like pavement, so until I get there I won't know...

Hey there!

Oh yeah, drive-ins are supposed to be silver mines... have always heard that there was usually a playground near or even right under the screen, and I have read stories about guys finding lots of good (and big) silver at them...

Thats a great idea.

I remember when i was young that was a way of life for us on friday nite.

We would all jump into Moms 57 Mercury station wagon in our pajamas and head to the drive in..

I know 4 that were around where I grew up that we used to go to so I will start there. They all have been gone for 20-30 years.. thanks!!
