I had a question. How do you find out who is the owner of a property? Secondly, where do you find plat maps? Are they online like sanborn maps? Thanks.

yep, try typing in "your county" GIS. often there is a tax parcel search where you can click on a property and it will tell you who pays the taxes for it.

I don't know if this will help you out, but at my job we often use NETRonline.com Real Estate Information & Public Records Research , just click on public records and you can search for all US counties tax appraisers, tax collectors, and county clerks. The site provides the county's web pages and/or phone number (depending upon the technology of the county you want to search).
