Default Another quest for permission...

I have ben doing some research on some new places to hunt here in Austin, and the Hyde Park neighborhood I have found is very, very old and holds alot of history. City of Austin - Austin Treasures: Hyde Park

The most intriguing thing I've come to discover is the State Lunatic Asylum, which is now basically the hub of the state MHMR... it is a huge area, and I am really wanting to get permission to hunt there...

I just sent an email to the webmaster of the main site, asking how to go about asking for permission. Here's what I sent, and I'll keep y'all posted on what I find out...

Code:
Greetings -

I hope you can be of some assistance in my request.

My name is Robert Chapman, and I have been doing some research on the history of the State Hospital. I am also an avid metal detecting enthusiast, and I look for old coins, primarily.

I am wondering how I would go about getting permission to search on the grounds of what used to be the old Asylum. Would you know who I might contact to obtain this permission?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Regards,
Robert Chapman

Good luck bob, i hope you obtain permission. I had that same idea to hunt our mental hospital here that they tore down 10 years ago. It was from the 1840s but as luck would have it, they made it a historic site and it became federal... ughhhh good luck!

We're all lunatics so no one should notice you hunting. My kid tells me " Dad, when you get that MD you'll be part of the bermuda shorts brigade." Kids. Really, that sounds like a great place to hunt. Good luck.
