Default Is there a good way to provide Metal Detecting Services?

At my work they have a bulletin board for employees to post things for sale, services, event info, want ads, etc.

I was thinking about making a post to offer Metal Detecting services. I have to think more about the wording but something along the lines of:

- Need help finding lost item?
- Property Searches
- Investigation Assistance

- Member of local MD Club
- Identified items returned
- Always respectful of property

Has anyone tried this in the past? If so, how successful were you?

My thinking was that maybe this would help in generating some leads for places to search. Ideally I think I should do searches for free. However, at the same time it would be no fun to look for property markers the entire time. Also the rising price of gas would make travel expensive. That being said, there is the possibility to generate some great leads, correct? If I was able to help someone is it unreasonable to ask permission to search their property in the future?

Please let me know your thoughts. Is this opening a 'can of worms'? Should I gain more experience before attempting?

Thanks,
dr_maddog

Hey Maddog, ive done this myself at work and was very successful.

Im not sure where you work but I work in a very big engineering complex.

I had it up on the bulletin board for about a week just to see what kind of bites I would get. Well i landed a 1909 house, 1840s village and a few other good ones...

I would just tell them what you do and what your interested in doing. If they feel comfortable having dig holes they will give you the ok..

Good Luck!
