It's funny - most of the police officers in Douglas County don't even know the rules they're supposed to be enforcing! I have specifically asked both Parker city police and Douglas County sheriff's deputies about MD'ing and both agencies have said "OK"...

Thanks for the info MT - guess you and I will have to be careful!!

here was an email that I sent to them...

Now the Rules state Written Permission..... Now here's what I got as a responce...

Hi Dennis;

I cannot tell you the rules for the Town of Castle Rock parks, but for Douglas County Parks and Open Space metal detecting is prohibibited. The reasons are that on Open Space, we have to keep people on trail and prevent damage to the resource that is always accompanied by folks digging for whatever they have found. On Parks, the same reasons apply, especially on the turf and synthetic fields.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me. For town of Castle Rock parks and open space, you will need to contact them.

thanks for your interest;

tom

I'm a new "Castle Rock" resident and I'm interested in finding out what "The Rules" are for the use of a metal detector in city parks
along with Open Space area's..

I've read somewhere on the parks pages that I may need to obtain written permission.. If so can you Please inform me as to how I would go about doing so..

Thank You,

Dennis

Basically it looks like you need written permission to use a md there...good luck and hope they are reasonable about this when asked...by the way what is a 'synthetic field'...astroturf...? And if so what idiot would try to dig in/on it...? Maybe that park ranger
