coat of arms
Hi guys, just joined today. What a great site. I was wondering if anyone can tell me how I would research a coat of arms or family crest that is on a button I found at a very old green. It is easy enough to start with the family name and find the crest but I have to do it backwards starting with the crest. The button appears to be brass, very old. It has a shield with an eagle in the top left and lower right corners, three stars in the lower left and what appears to be some sort of flower in the bottom right. Any help would be appreciated. hanks Rich.

Welcome to the forum, it is a great place !!! Does the coat of arms or crest have a readable Motto? many will have either the battle cry or motto included . Post a pic if you can ,I will copy it and help with the research a little as time allows !! My signature below is My Clan motto !! Rick
