Default Hunting your property.

I had a real eye opener a couple of weeks ago hunting my own property. Note that I hunt a lot of organized hunts throughout the year in pursuit of the hollow ground. I also travel to different locations throughout Virginia seeking permission to hunt locations I research.

About a year ago I decided to hunt my property one day just to see what I could find. I live in Appomattox Virginia (Home of the Civil War Surrender) on 11 acres not far from the Surrender grounds. I was only finding square nails and trash so I kind of wrote the area off thinking it was just a dumpsite.

I received a new Whites MXT not long ago and wanted to try it out so I started hunting a different part of my property and found the attached items. The wick adjusters from the lanterns are dating back to the mid to late 1800’s. There is a lot of iron in the area so I have ordered a Whites DD coil to go back in and give the area a better sweep to see what else is in there.

What I am saying is if you live in an area that holds some history (all of our areas do) spend some time detecting your property, you might be as surprised as I was.

Default Hi ED !

What are the metal strips ? i was thinking harmonica parts ? I used to live in Fredricksburg at an old mill site and never searched it much, then heard of a guy finding a c.w. i.d plate with the soldiars name co.etc.in the front yard after i had moved out.

Default Rip, you are correct.

The metal strips are Harmonica reeds, I was shocked to find so many in the small area I have been hunting.
