Found while point hunting
This odd rock was found in a plowed field in Mid. TN. It is about 2" around and purplish brown in color. Not magnetic and leaves a brownish red streak on unglazed tile. Two were found and one was split open( I dont have it ) and it is a silver color inside. Any Ideas ? Thanks for looking and sorry about the big pics

Hi Terri,cool find.I have no idea ! well actually I do ! I'm thinking some type of ore,lead,maganese or nickel mabey.But then again I really have no idea for sure I think.

My first thought
My first thought was meteorite. Might be an Iron or Nickel Meteorite, judging by the silver in the center. Does the silver area have a distinct crystaline appearance? How does it rub on the ceramic? But you said it was non-magnetic? HMMMM.

Echo.....My son collected those for years......I use to tell him they were what was left of shooting stars.....a father son thing...however he is all grown up now. If I'm not mistaken it is a piece of Iron ore......Shooting star just sounded better....Thanks for allowing me to remember a fond memory.

Thats Cool, I like the Shooting Star ideaTN Dirt Digger. The inside of the

I don't know what it is but I would have picked it up also.....it's cool.
