Default Interesting Find!

Hi All! I'm new to these boards and have a year of detecting under my belt and wanted to show my latest find in my own yard of all places, in a spot I supposedly already hunted out! My house was built in the early 1940's on what was once farmland. The item appears to be made of all copper with very intricate designs. Unfortunately I was only able to locate the top, and am not sure what it is. Possibly a woman's powder box from early in the century?

Thanks!
ScottP

Hi Scott and welcome to the TQ forum!

I found an item like this once, it was intact with the little powder puff or pad inside. I'll post a picture if I can find it....It's probably in the shed somewhere :(

Hey Guys-thanks for the friendly welcomes and replies. I'd love to see the photo of the powder box that is similar to mine. Any info on how old it might be?

Thanks!
Scott

Here's two of them. I think the one that I haven't opened yet might be for snuff but not sure.

This one is with the powder puff. I think there used to be a little mirror in the opening. Found it a few years back while digging up a black top driveway.

Thanks Gregory for the great pics of your powder tins. I think my find is for the same use for sure. Wish I had found the bottom as well!

Thanks
