Default Garrett Ace 250 vs Ace 250 Pro?

Hello Everyone,

I hope this is in the correct forum, please excuse me if it is not....

I have a quick question concerning the Garrett Ace 250 that I am hoping someone might help me out with. I saw an online retailer selling the Ace 250 and also an Ace 250 Pro. From the way it looks, it appears that the only difference is that the Ace 250 Pro comes with a second coil. It comes with the standard 6.5 x 9 PROformance coil, and also a 9 x 12 Rhino PROFormance coil. The price difference is between the 250 and the 250 Pro is $85.00.

My question is would it be worth it to spend the extra $85.00 for the Pro and have 2 coils? Also, has anyone had any experience with this coil?

I am brand new to the hobby and I am seriously considering going with the Ace 250, however I am wondering if it would be worth my while to go ahead and splurge on the Pro for the extra coil? I plan on mostly hunting at the beach and local park. Thanks ahead of time for any input anyone can offer.

Ken

I my opinion, if you are willing to spend the extra $85 why not just get a better detector? The ace 250 is a good model, but for 300 there are better. But thats just my opinion.

Thanks for the reply Arkwater. To tell you the truth, I never really thought about that. Could you suggest some MD that would be in the $300 price range? I guess I had the Ace 250 on the brain, and didn't realize other options exist. Thanks again for the help.

Default i own ....

I own the whites prizm 3 and it cost 300.00 bux US. the whites is a darn good machine, pinpoints right on the mark and i have had 9 and 10 finds with it. the depth indicator only reads 8 plus.i carry a rule with me to measure the hole. i wanna confirm how deep my machine detects. i dont believe my own fishing stories so i wanna make sure that penny came out of the ground at 8 inches. i have made plenty of good finds with the whites but with whatever machine you decide to buy you wont go wrong buying from our sponsors. you will get a good machine from people and they will be there when you have questions or concerns. Greg wouldnt let em sponsor his sight if they were not top notch guys. and by buying from them you help this great forum get better and better

Hi Ken, I would get the small 4.5" coil. Very effective in close to playground equipment and still has good depth. If you are working wide open area's then the 9X12 coil would be good ground coverage and it will help on the depth a little. Ok if you need anything or help purchasing any coils and detectors just PM me. CU later Ken.

Default The ACE 250...

...is a fine machine, but you would be better off with the 4.5" Sniper coil than the bigger one, and the Sniper costs much less. As a sponsoring dealer here on TQ, I would like very much to be able to help you with your purchase.
