I have really wanted to go digging, but the recent weather hasn't cooperated with my schedule. Starting tomorrow, I have 4 days off. The fields need bushhogging, crows ate the sweet corn when it sprouted(need to re-plant), swimming pool needs cleaning and chlorinating, two of three tractors won't run, and the third one is in a bad mood, the grass needs cutting, plus a few other things. It's an overwhelming feeling. Only had the new MXT out 3 times(I think). Sometimes I wonder if time has sped up, or if I've slowed down that much(probably the latter)........But, like that old A-R-S song from the 70's.....Not gonna let it bother me tonight(but it may be hell tomorrow).

Sounds like your going to be real busy. Set aside a couple of hours to do some detecting.

Oh I understand that completly. Sometimes we gotta do the chores, and others we can hunt. I do know that I am enjoying my son mowing the yard this summer, Beale.

I spent too much time today going backwards instead of forward. Re-planted the corn, and un-covered the pool. Did some mechanic work on a Farmall 140, and thought we had it fixed. New plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil, re-built carburetor, new sediment bowl assembly, set the points, and then it will only run about 4 minutes before cutting off. If there has ever been anything more aggravating than a Farmall tractor, I don't know what it could be. This is the 4th Farmall I've ever owned, and NONE of them have ever run right. The Ferguson 35 is a very dependable tractor. If it weren't so flat where I live, I'd find a cliff and introduce both Farmalls to "flight". I really think it would make me feel better watching them free-fall.
. A mechanic is coming over tomorrow(40 bucks an hour) to try to fix the Farmalls---both of them. I'll bet he gets them running great, and when he leaves, they will quit running. Typical of a Farmall. I think too much of my worst enemy to give them one of the Farmalls. I don't even think I'd give one to Charles Manson . George W., maybe..........Anyway. I need to dig.......

Diggin Man I feel your pain, I'm not as buried as you but I haven't been able to swing for two months now.. Bought a hose, moved, broke my scoop..yea I'm a beach hunter, jeep broke down, boss has been in a bad mood and got a new honey doo list. Twice now I got mad enough to say I'm going hunting and both times something came up that stopped me, including a big electrical storm.
Hay never had Farmall but if it's anything like International good luck, roll it down a hill or tow it to start and it'll run good, try cranking it and it'll be a crap shoot. |

Oh, I dearly miss my old international! I used to have to work on it for about an hour everytime I wanted to mow but I was sad to see it go. I was mowing between the yard and the pond one day and saw something glistening in the sun and drove over to see a mass of snaked roiling around. Well, I started the blade and made a mess of tiny snakes out of it (I don't mind snakes but dearly hate those water snakes!). Right away the tractor stopped and wouldn't run again. We had it hauled away and discovered it had a cracked head. Guess that was my punishment for going on a wanton killing spree! lol Anyway, I miss the old girl - she was a 1950-something like me. :)
I have been saying for two weeks now that I was going to do some container gardening but it' hasn't happened yet. And don't forget to swing over your garden when you get the soil turned! That'll be sort of a little reward for you. :) |
