Sweet article...I laughed my ass off wit this line...

" he's actually part of a close-knit network of gold prospectors, storm chasers and obsessive amateur historians who fight crime, frequent a national circuit of competitive hunts and wage a never-ending battle against their mortal enemies, professional archeologists"

It was too much, I had to wipe tears from my eyes from having laughed so hard...Thanks, great find

I have a couple of problems with this article. It says: "The mild-mannered CPA knows he looks like a nutcase, and he doesn't care." What is that supposed to mean. I guess if he was sitting on a bank for hours with a fishing pole stuck in the water, that would be okay. Why are people who metal detect viewed this way?
And also: "Some towns have passed laws banning the use of metal detectors on public property." How is that even possible!!!

We hunted a school yard yesterday, just sifting through the pea gravel around the play equipment. As we were leaving, a police car pulled up. I guess somebody had called the police because we were out there doing that. We have been told by the city that we have every right to hunt on city property as long as we don't dig. Thank God there are good Samaritans keeping this city safe from us lowly metal detectorists.

Great read... Thanks for the Link OZ !
Hey Blythe... It's different and those who do not detect just do not get it and we are an Oddity to them. People I know and family I'm around think I'm a nut case cuz i talk about Treasure and Abandoned places and findin Gold & Siver and such. It's just the way it is. Everyday they pass some New Law and Lord only knows what rights you have lost in the last 24 hrs.

Awesome article, Shaun totally blogged about it on TreasureHunting.com a few weeks ago - Treasure Hunting - A Metal Detector Enthusiast's Guide

And it mentions Stu! We work so closely that sometimes I forget the rest of the world thinks he's really important, lol!
