Default Info from Whites on pinpointing.

Yesterday I took my MXT into the Whites factory and service department and had them look at a problem for me. For the last while every now and then, not always I would be in the pinpoint mode, trigger pulled and be over the target and the tone would just quit. Would start over and it would be just fine most of the time. Whites said they see that in the MXT sometimes and it is not an electrical or mechanical problem. It can be caused by pinpointing a small object by a large object or sometimes the MXT just does it. When it does they say to move the coil over to clean ground and just pump it a couple times and start over and all will be well. I did try it later and it worked so I am glad nothing was wrong with my detector. Not all machines have this problem but they say they have heard of it so just some information for you. They checked out my coil and control box did a complete electronic test and said all voltages and frequencies were right on spec. I am a happy customer and Whites treat you right.

My mxt does that once in a while, I think it just de-tunes from the pinpoint lock it has acquired. Never paid much attention to it, just moved over a foot or so, sweeped a few times, then re pin pointed and it was ok, found this works for me.
