I'm really curious about something.
I just started using the MXT and its a good machine. But I am really curious about something. Will the MXT go as deel as the XLT? I would of initially bought the XLT but some people say there is a learnig curve with it. How difficult I might ask? Then again, if there are preset factory settings then I would assume that you can just "turn on and go" !! Can I start using it just as easy as the MXT? I don't mind spending extra $$$ but if there are some big advantages then I might consider getting the XLT too? Never hurts to have a back up machine? |

I don't run that machine but plenty of others do. One of the first and best things I was told about any machine was to learn it first. I would wait at least a year or so before I decided the learning curve was too steep. Just go out and keep practicing with the MXT and the good stuff will come.

Never touched an MXT but I swing a mean XLT.
If you like turn on and go the XLT is great. If you like turn on and go and you want to tweak the programs just a little bit the XLT is great for that too. I tried a program today called Berserk Light. It opens up everything and goes DEEP! Found a quarter and a dime at 9 inches and 7.5 inches. both clad though. |

I've owned the MXT, I sold it. All white mid line machine are deep as you ever want to dig. If you want deeper than what most detectors are searching then you need more power delivered to the coil... 8 AA Batteries isn't an outstanding amount of power. - most machine are based on hunting conditions. water/land- Coins/nuggets.
I personally think anything below 12volts isn't a machine you need for the long haul. I let the MXT go because I'm a dummy. But I ended up with the Matrix M6 which I like much better... But I went the wrong direction.. I should have stepped up and got the XLT or the DFX. I didn't because, sometimes I get burned out and didn't want an so much money wrapped up in a machine I wasn't using.. so I error'd on the side of patience. MXT is as Strong as the XLT |

I do not run a White's. I will agree with learning your machine. I know the MXT is a very nice unit. Lots of great finds have been unearthed with them.
I wll also say this. Most of my finds come in the 4"-6" range. Once in a while I will pop out a coin that suprises me, but they are not the norm. Good luck to you, Beale.
