Default New From NE Florida/SE Georgia

Hi, I’m Kimberly and new to the hobby,
I'm heading out today to Ft. Clinch in Fernandina Bch, Fl.
This will be my 3rd time using and 3rd trip to the beach with my detector.
I had no idea I would be in this hobby until I received an early Christmas gift about a week ago, the Bounty hunter Quick Silver & a pinpointer.
I was born and raised on the Florida east coast beaches so this is a hobby I can’t imagine not having all these years with my last 2 trips sifting the sands with this. What a BLAST!!!
My 1st trip, to Historic Fernandina Bch, Fl was a few days ago and we just had a bad storm… there is about a 3-4 ft drop of wash out and right a long the edge I turned up quite a few coins pretty quick. My trip was short, maybe an hour because is was so cold and windy… I‘ll be heading back Saturday (probably Sunday too) for a day long trip… lunch packed and all.
My 2nd trip, yesterday, Jacksonville beach, near the pier, I was sure would turn up some jewelry and lots of money…. It is always so packed cheek to cheek with people… some coins, nothing else… started to rain. Still had fun.
Today…if the weather holds… out I go again.
I normally walk around with a camera stuck on my face… nature photography is my passion… but this is grand!
I’m learning how to use my detector and am happy with just the change I have found so far. One quarter looked like an old medallion it was so colored and coated… my heart began to race. We all waited as it was getting rinsed to see what it was. I don’t know what I’ll do the 1st time I unearth something from days gone by… like an an old old historic coin… a piece of jewelry, something like that.
Anyone with this detector that can give me tips on using the sttings or help in any area being new to this great hobby, I would be thankful!
Happy Hunting all!!!
Kimberly

Be careful around fort clinch, I was once kicked off the beach there for detecting ...not sure why, but anyway. Fernandina main beach has always been a good spot for coins and rings , especially right in front of the beach bar there. I found a couple silver dimes in a washout by the fernandina high school where you can see old glass and brick pieces mixed in the sand. There are some old bottle dumps back behind the school a ways but I cant remember exactly where anymore. There have been a few gold coins found around that area. Lots of history around there. I have been away from it for years.
