Hello People

My name is Kenny. Years ago I use to have a metal detector. I'm petty sure it was a White but I don't remember the model. I do remember it ate batteries....lol
Like many things it disappeared during my divorce. I bought a Garrett Ace 150 last week and been having a blast with it. Right now I have the bug to get a top end model.
I've thought about the White Surf Master or Beach Hunter. I want to do a lot of beach hunting. But I also want to search after work at parks on the way home after work.
The Fisher F75 in the same price range and it would be a great land hunter. But only good in two feet of water.
Is there such a thing as the best of both worlds, land and water ? I like the LCD screens but it seem water doesn't. My hearing on different sound pitch is not what it use to be. Any help would be appreciated.

The Surf Master is a Pulse Induction Machine and although you can use it on land, it'll drive you crazy as it hits on all metal. The Beach Hunter is a VLF machine that can also be used on land, but it has limited discrimination and is better suited for the beach. I have separate land and beach machines for that reason.

Thanks Buster.
In my first week I found around thirty coins at the beach and parks.
And a large spoon in my back yard.
The 150 is a good start. Pull tabs are no trouble. Aluminum tops are still a pain.
I kind of know when I have one by the size ( ? ) of the beep. But I still dig to see.

From looking if I want to play in the water the LCD screen is out. Hey I'm in Florida.
I'll do my research and read reviews. A Kayak and a water proof detector in the summer could be fun.
The Whites Beach Hunter is looking good right now.
Thanks for the help.

Welcome to the site! Glad you are here! Good luck in your search. IMHO to get a true water unit and a land unit you will need 2 different units, Beale.

Thanks Beale.

I was thinking the same as you. Still am in a way. It would be better to have one of each ( water / land ) detector.
I've decided I want to do the beach hunting most of the time. Time to get wet.
I think I'm going to get the Excalibur II from Mine lab From Kellyco.
I know it is a large investment and most of my use well be on weekends.
I don't want to do the shipping thing so I might be driving there this weekend.

I forgot how much fun I had doing this years ago. And with a water proof detector,
Sulphur Springs pool here in Tampa should be a great hunt.
As for my Garrett 150 ? It will still get plenty of use. I have friends that are interested in detecting.
It's a good machine also.
