Default Detector for Parents??

They live about an hour east of Pittsburgh PA, Northern Cambria is the town. I have been looking at the Minelab X-Terra505, Fisher F5, and the Titan 3000

Hope this links helps. I am looking for a very user friendly detector.

If they are just starting out I would go with an ACE 250. Easy to use and lots of us use them so they can always find help! There are many in the Pittsburgh area who hunt and can give help if soil conditions exist that would warrant a particular machine.

i agree. the X-Terra is also a good unit, a few more bells and whistles than the Ace but still easy to use for a beginner and it has adjustable ground balance which is a big plus. i have both and like both of them alot.
