Default Confused

Hello from the U.K. My first post on here, but am already impressed with the amount of information available. However, despite spending hours searching/reading forums from A to Z I have yet to come to a firm decision regarding my first detector. I want an all-rounder (I know,I know.....not really any such machine) that is relatively switch on and go, and will work reasonably well inland as well as the beach. Tall order? I have short-listed Garrett Ace 250 (some say not too good on the wet sand) Whites Prizm III or IV ( like the fact that Whites have a UK branch) and Bounty Hunter Tracker IV. I know the Ace has a huge following ,but has anyone any experience of how these machines actually compare to each other? In the UK, they are all similar prices except for the Prizm IV which is approx £60 (?$) more. Is it worth the extra over the III ? Your comments would be most gratefully received. Merry Xmas to all, Mike.

Welcome to the site! Glad to have you on!

Bothe the ACE250 and the Prizm II & IV are good units. If you have the White's over there then I may lean that way. Good luck to you, Beale.

I have the 250, Bounty hunter, and the Priz III. I have never hunted salt water beaches but have hunted fresh water sand. I would go with the Priz III. I wouldn't worry about the upgrade to a IV. IMHO those bells and whistles are more for selling the machine to novice hunters than really performing a function. Its best to take your time and learn the tones of the machine. I hunt with my Bro who has a older coin master and he has come in behind me and found coins I passed over because the meter said it was foil or a pop top. His machine does not have a ID meter and he digs all "good", "strong" signals. If you pay to much attention to those meters they can cause you to miss stuff. Good luck and welcome to TQ.

Hello & welcome to TQ, I have the Prizm III & the Prizm 6T, both are great but the 6T will pick up signals along the edges of the beach while the Prizm III does NOT like salt water, I'd go with the Prizm III instead of the Ace 250.
