Default First run with the Shark

We had an unexpected warm spell in CT today, so I grabbed the Sand Shark and took it on it's maiden voyage. I was not totally prepared to do this, since I don't have a water scoop yet, so I grabbed a short shovel and off to the beach I went.

It's a pleasure to have a machine that doesn't freak out when it encounters salt water. I was able to hunt the mud flats and in shallow water. The machine ran smooth as silk.

My finds today included a couple of lead weights, remnants of soda cans, the bottom of a pail, assorted foil, bottle caps, pull tabs and 6 cents. (so I wasn't skunked on my first time out.)

I found interesting that the machine reacted to what looked like a piece of coal, (It was heavy, black, had a sulfur smell to it, and left a black residue on my hands) I was also amazed that it reacted strongly to really tiny bits of metal.

It looks like I have a new language to learn. At least I now have a water machine that can handle the entire beach. Can't wait for the next warm spell. It's back into the 30's tomorrow with snow,
