You may want to check with you ISP to make sure your allowed. Many times, they will have you upgrade to an unrestricted account, a dedicated IP address, and unfiltered throughput. You don't technically need a static IP, but DynDns doesn't always work very well. You can get a low priced ser er from dell for 900 bucks...The big thing is that it's bastionized, has lots of RAM, and a few SATA drives.

It would be nice to have to have unlimited space, and the server in your office, but another idea to consider is having everything non-critical on your own server, pictures and such, and have everything critical on a hosted server.

Sorry to disagree, but I would never buy a Dell server (or a Dell anything for that matter).

For name brand servers go with HP (or IBM if you can afford it).

Or find a local shop that is RELIABLE to build you one.

I rus about about 15 dell servers, from 15,000 dollar monsters to 900 dollar wonders. They don't have any issues.

Very good points. I will call my cable company and see what they can do. My top plan would be 5 megs. If 5 megs won't do it I may have to scratch the idea.
