I just wanted to let everyone be aware of something when buying a used detector. Many persons online will advertise that they have a detector for sale with a "blank warranty" card. The card may be blank but the warranty is no longer in effect for most brands. The warranty (even if lifetime) is for the original purchaser ONLY and the warranty cannot be used , blank or not. Whites Electronics warranties ARE tranferable for the balance but beware ; if someone is trying to sell a detector with a blank card for a Whites , the detector may be stolen. ALL Whites dealers are required to send in the card. The warranty cannot be in effect unless this has happened. Ebay is always a crap shoot and I think ,in my experience, that there are as many people who get either junk detectors off there or nothing at all as do people who get a decent deal.
Your best bet to get a quality used detector is to deal with a reputable detector dealer (and I don't mean Joes Hobby store) that will at least offer a 30 day warranty.
